SCENE 1 – THE HOPE AND POSSIBILITIES RACE IN CENTRAL PARK
Nefertiti walks down a rainy street with her cane toward Central Park.
Text appears that reads, “Nefertiti Matos” over Nefertiti’s face.
Nefertiti waits to start a race, wearing a neon T-shirt that reads “Achilles.”
She holds her running tether and walks toward the starting line with two running guides.
Anthony yells with excitement and turns around laughing.
Text appears that reads, “Anthony Butler.”
He squeezes his side and stretches, standing with two female guides.
People line up for the race. Volunteers prepare for the start.
Anthony stands arm in arm with two female guides and dances.
A view of lot of women’s legs lining up for the race.
Anthony walks to the starting line with his guides.
They look up when the race horn blasts. Anthony looks for his running tether.
Nefertiti stands with her guides at the starting line.
She looks down in contemplation.
She starts walking forward with her guides as the race begins.
Spectators watch and cheer along the race sidelines.
Nefertiti runs fast in the middle of the race track.
She crosses the finish line with a big smile on her face, receives her medal.
Anthony screams as he runs across the finish line.
He rests his hand on a female guide’s shoulder.
Another female guide comes up and squeezes one of his hands.
Animation sequence pops up with the film title: Text on screen reads, BLIND DATE. A cartoon of a cupid wearing sunglasses shoots an arrow across the screen. It hits a heart, which turns red and then flies off the screen.
SCENE 2 – ANTHONY CELEBRATES THE RACE AT A BAR
Anthony walks near Central Park with different female guides.
They enter a bar where a bartender is pouring a drink.
Anthony is with a female guide. He kisses her hand and then picks her up and swings her around the bar.
Anthony and his two male friends, one blind and one sighted, stand in the bar telling stories and laughing.
The bartender pours them shots. The group takes rounds of shots together.
SCENE 3 – NEFERTITI HAS LUNCH WITH FRIENDS AT A THAI RESTAURANT
Nefertiti walks with two friends down a street in New York Cit.
The group crosses the street, and a sign reads “pedestrians look both ways before you cross.”
The group walks into a restaurant whose sign reads “Enthaice.”
Nefertiti pushes buttons on her iPhone at the dining table and has an earpiece in, while her friends are watching her.
The waitress brings food and the group starts eating.
Nefertiti has a daydream and there are several different couples enjoying Central Park.
Text comes on a black screen that reads: “One in five American adults have used online dating. The seven million Americans with vision loss have difficulty accessing this technology.”
Nefertiti sits at her computer at home.
She dials her iPhone and calls her blind friend in San Francisco.
Text on screen over the phone reads, “Voice of Kayla, Nefertiti’s Blind Friend.”
She types in the URL for OKCUPID.com on her computer.
There is a montage of shots of her at Achilles in different states of mind.
She throws her head into her hands with worry.
Screen dips to black (Signifies time elapsed).
Computer screen scrolls down dating profiles.
Computer screen shows, “Whoops, there is a problem.”
She drops her head into her hands.
SCENE 4 – MEET A TECHONOLOGY ACCESSIBILITY EXPERT WITH A BACKSTORY
A man sits at a computer typing. Text below his headshot reads “Gus Chalkias, Tech Accessibility Expert, Baruch College.”
Signs around him read “Center for Visually Impaired Technology.”
He walks out of Baruch College onto the street with a cane.
He sits at his desk at home on a work call.
Gus is on his computer using a website, “BigCity.com.” He checks his inbox.
Gus rides in a car.
Looking down at his hands, the screen goes dark through an increasing vignette.
Gus stands outside a Cross Fit gym in Queens.
He looks down in contemplation and plays with his cane.
Gus arranges up big sets of weights inside the gym.
He lifts the weights in backdrop while his cane is folded up in the foreground.
He feels for the weights to adjust them.
He sweats and strains to lift a very large weight.
SCENE 5 – ANTHONY GOES BACK TO THE BRONX
An elevated subway train passes.
Anthony stands on a street corner leaning against a brick building.
Scenes of the Bronx: a woman with a shopping cart, kids play outside a store.
Friends walk toward Anthony, and a group convenes on the street corner.
Anthony hugs and high-fives his friends.
The friends open a bottle of cognac and share it.
Identical twins stand on either side of Anthony talking back and forth.
A pit bull dog comes up and sniffs the camera.
Anthony is now alone standing on the corner alone with his hands on his cane.
Anthony stands on the street talking to a friend he runs into.
Shrine candles sit on the curb nearby where someone was killed.
The screen blinks to black as Anthony tells his story.
He stands with his friends again on the street.
They help him get into a car to leave.
Rewind sequence: The entire scene is shown in reverse, ending on Anthony’s face looking into the distance from the street corner.
SCENE 6 – NEFERTITI TELLS HER BACKSTORY
A cane comes down subway stairs. It is Nefertiti.
She passes through the turnstile and waits for a subway train.
She asks a stranger for help.
She rides on a subway car alone.
We see the face of Nefertiti’s mother, and text comes on screen reading “Maria Olivarez, Nefertiti’s Mom.”
[English language subtitle over Maria’s Spanish]: “To save her life, they had to remove the tumor. It was going to affect her vision, because it was attached to nerves.”
[Mom Subtitle]: “Her life was at risk, because the tumor was large. But, God left her with me.”
View of the large scar on the back of Nefertiti’s neck.
View of Nefertiti’s mom gets closer and darker to simulate vision loss.
[Mom Subtitle]: “I became so depressed. I cried so much. Before she lost her sight at three years old, My God, she was taking over the world.”

[Mom Subtitle] “And I donated my kidney to her in 2006. // Now, in 2015 // Both of us are doing well.”

Anthony walks with his mobility instructor.
He runs into a bag of trash.
He walks across a street and taps the bumper of a car with his cane.
Anthony sits in front of his computer at home, and takes off his sunglasses for the first time.
His New School diploma is displayed on his wall.
A flag hanging outside a building reads “NYU.”
He sits inside a library typing on his laptop.
He exits the NYU library alone, walking with his cane.
SCENE 8 - NEFERTITI_GOES TO THE NFB CONVENTION IN ORLANDO
Text on a black screen reads: “Nefertiti is competing for a scholarship from the National Federation for the Blind.”
Text over a crowd of blind people walking through a conference center: “ORLANDO, FL”
A large room of blind people watches a speaker.
The president of the NFB stands at a podium.
A point of view shot from someone walking very quickly through a crowded convention center hallway.
A man gulps down a glass of wine and then puts the wine glass into his bag.
Sighted volunteers yell loudly to direct people to the elevators.
People with guide dogs push to get to elevators.
Nefertiti stands with her scholarship badge on in President’s suite.
She opens a door and enters a pizza party.
There is a room with a group of young blind people eating pizza.
People trying to identify which pizzas are which.
A blind woman walks across the room, looking for a table to sit at.
Nefertiti stands talking to her friends.
She walks down a hallway and onto a big convention hall floor.
She checks out different booths and goods for sale.
She approaches a table with tactile board games where a man, David Glasspool, who she’d met last night, is working.
She walks out of the convention hall on a Skyway with palm trees.
She arrives at a dance party and talks to the dance instructor.
She practices the dances steps, and then dances with a one-legged man.
She laughs wildly as she dances with her dance partner.
An audience person looks at the dance floor and whispers into friend’s ear.
The dance instructor dances in a mini dress and big high heels with her cane.
In the convention center hallway, a blind couple walks into a plant and a foot bumps into the camera.
Nefertiti walks back to her room for the night.
Nefertiti approaches a banquet hall.
She sits at a dinner table with a man to her left who she giggles with.
Scholarship contestants line up beside a stage.
Nefertiti has a nervous face and plays with her cane.
She claps and cheers after the announcement and walks off stage with her scholarship bag in hand.
SCENE 9 – GUS DANCES AT THE SILENT DISCO
Gus walks arm with two male friends through New York City.
They stand in a park with a large stage set up. They drink wine and sing.
Gus walks to the dance floor arm in arm with his friends.
A banner sign above them reads “Midsummer’s Night Swing.”
Fast motion shots of Gus and friends dancing to disco music.
Gus dances with headphones. He lifts his headphones off to hear his friends talking.
Gus looks at the strangers dancing around him.
The park clears out for the night.
A view of Lincoln Center plaza fountain dips to black.
SCENE 10 – ANTHONY VISITS LAS VEGAS AND THE HOOVER DAM
Text on screen reads: ‘Anthony is headed to Las Vegas with his brothers, Marko and Dollar. “
An airplane takes off and a suitcase is unzipped.
Slow driving shot toward a sign that reads “Welcome to Las Vegas.”
Anthony is in a rental car dancing to music with his brothers.
Signs read “The Rio” and “Harrah’s,” and there are Elvis impersonators and lots of bright lights.
Anthony and his brothers walk down the Las Vegas strip.
Anthony’s hand is on his brother’s shoulder.
Text comes on screen over his brother’s headshot reading “Marko Crowell, Anthony’s Brother.”
Marko and Anthony take shots of liquor. They dance to R. Kelly music in a bar.
The brothers are out at the club. Anthony is talking to a woman at the club then he dances with her.
The brothers walk the strip at night and Anthony has his cane out.
A woman approaches him while he’s walking to talk about his blindness.
A wide shot of the Vegas strip at night.
Fat motion montage of Anthony out with his brothers. Anthony does the Robot dance. The brothers are in an elevator with girls. They exit and a hotel room door closes with a sign on the handle that reads, “Do not disturb. The door shuts

Anthony is stands on the edge of a big vertical drop, and text comes on screen reading “Hoover Dam.”
A sign under his hands reads, “Keep off wall.”
Anthony looks out over the dam.
The brothers hang out and pose for pictures in front of the dam.
The walk away from the dam, and Anthony has his cane out.
SCENE 11- GUS SITS IN THE PARK AT SUNSET
White flowers sway in the breeze as cyclists in the backdrop and kids play soccer.
Gus gazes into the distance at a big bridge with the sun setting behind it.
Gus’ hand clenches the bench.
He sits near other couples who are enjoying the park.
Waves lap at the water’s edge.
Gus stands at the edge and a rainbow colored sunset is in front of him.
Gus looks out over the water in contemplation.
SCENE 12 – NEFERTITI GETS HER HAIR DONE BEFORE HER FIRST DATE
Nefertiti is in a salon chair getting rollers put in her hair.
[Nefertiti Subtitle]: “I’m good. Getting rollers in the salon right now.”
She sits back in a chair with rollers and laughs on her cell phone.
[Nefertiti’s Mom Subtitle]: This week, we went out to eat together and I was saying to her, "Sweetie, you’re laughing alone. You seem like you're falling in love again…”
Nefertiti puts the phone to her ear and laughs wildly.
She moves to a hair dryer where she continues to be on her phone.
She gets the rollers taken out and her is being blow-dried.
Rise from black signifies some time has passed.
Nefertiti turns on lights in her bedroom and starts picking out clothes.
She brushes her teeth and washes her face, then dries it off.
She dials her phone.
[Nefertiti Subtitle]: “Ok call me when you get closer.”
She puts on the rest of her makeup.
She gets on her phone and makes a call again.
[Nefertiti Subtitle]: “Wait for me downstairs, okay? Ok, see you in a moment.”
The couple walks arm in arm down the streets of New York City.
The couple enjoys lemonade and scones in a courtyard with flowers.
They laugh and lean in toward each other.
The couple leaves and walks arm in arm together.
